Job summary

UPMC Rehabilitation Institute is seeking a full-time Patient Services Representative for the Kaufmann Medical clinic. The role involves greeting patients, guiding them through self-arrival tech or desk check-in, collecting copayments, updating registrations, and scheduling follow-ups at checkout.

Responsibilities include connecting patients to financial advocacy resources, verifying insurance, and promoting the MyUPMC portal.

Qualifications

• Welcomes patients and explains financial obligations
• Experience with medical billing or customer service preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide a warm greeting for all patients
• Guide patients through use of self-arrival technology or check-in at desk
• Collect copayments and any other patient payments
• Confirm and/or update patient registration information at checkout
• Schedule follow-up appointments within the practice at checkout
• Connect patients to resources to schedule ancillary services
• Help patients navigate the healthcare system with clear instructions and follow up as needed
• Register patients in biometrics and explain benefits
• Promote MyUPMC patient portal and assist with registration
• Assist with education of financial responsibility and connect to advocacy resources
• Verify insurance benefits with the appropriate carrier online or by phone
• Obtain signatures for consent to treatment and financial responsibility per HIPAA
• Triage phone calls to other areas or clinical providers
• Assist with general office tasks like scanning and faxing
• Promote navigation and usability of the UPMC Patient Portal for a smooth experience

Education
