Job summary

Ascendis Pharma seeks a patient education and access specialist to educate patients and caregivers on disease state, products, and reimbursement processes. You will build and maintain relationships through in-person and virtual interactions, tailoring plans to empower advocacy and therapy access.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s with 5+ years in patient support, plus clinical experience. This role requires travel, HIPAA/FDA familiarity, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years in direct patient support; able to explain disease state, product, and access concepts.
• Clinical/Allied Health degree/licensure preferred, with at least 5 years clinical experience in pediatrics, endocrinology, neurology, ENT, orthopedics, or related fields.
• Minimum of two years of pharmaceutical industry experience.
• Bilingual preferred.
• Experience with orphan or rare diseases and product launches.
• Experience educating patients on injectable products and reimbursement obstacles.
• Familiarity with HIPAA, FDA requirements, and OIG compliance.
• Able to work autonomously and with cross-functional teams; excellent communication.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for education on disease state, Ascendis products, and therapy access.
• Develop and maintain relationships with patients and caregivers via in-person and virtual interactions.
• Assess patient needs to develop an action plan empowering advocacy using approved resources.
• Provide individualized education to patients and caregivers on disease state and product using approved resources.
• Educate patients on insurance coverage and the process for obtaining therapy.
• Conduct medication administration education as required once coverage is established.
• Provide information on affordability resources as needed.
• Manage long-term relationships with patients and their care team with a tailored communication plan.
• Collaborate with cross-functional internal teams and partner with Patient Advocacy.
• Report adverse events and product complaints with PV and QA teams; ensure compliance.
• Travel up to 50% for home visits, patient education, advocacy activities, and congress needs.
