Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates preferred.
• Current BLS certification required.
• 1–3 years of medical office experience preferred.
• Understanding of medical coding and billing.
• Knowledge of OSHA, HIPAA, blood-borne pathogens.
• Competent with PC applications including Internet, Email, and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate staff.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients with politeness and helpfulness; maintain excellent customer service.
• Obtain registration data, insurance information, and photo ID.
• Enter patient data into the computer system accurately and promptly.
• Verify insurance and collect co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles.
• Follow HIPAA guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Balance daily charges and safeguard received money.
• Manage patient charts and coordinate referrals as needed.
• Assist staff in a positive, team-centered manner.
• Schedule and follow up on provider referrals.
• Keep lobby clean and stocked with necessary items.
• Seek methods to minimize financial risk and ensure compliant controls.
• Coordinate with auditing services to maintain financial monitoring.
• Clinic staff may include ancillary personnel supervised by professionals.
• Other duties as assigned; this is a safety-sensitive role.
