Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Patient Care Assistant/Unit Administrative Assistant (PCA/UAA) to support the interprofessional team in delivering quality care. You will perform delegated nursing assistant tasks and assist with ADLs under supervision of a licensed nurse.

Responsibilities include coordinating calls to physicians, bed management, transfers, unit communications, and documenting care activities. Strong communication and computer skills are required to uphold ICARE values.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Eighteen months of CNA/CMA/PCA experience.
• One year of secretarial/office experience or six months of internal cross-training at Houston Methodist.
• BLS certification required.
• Experience with medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answers incoming telephone calls for the unit and facilitates transfers.
• Greets patients and visitors, directing them and providing information.
• Coordinates bed management, transfers, and calls to physicians.
• Documents care activities and uses computer systems per policy.
• Supports patient safety and family-centered care following ICARE values.
