Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Part-Time Patient Care Assistant/Unit Administrative Assistant (PCA/UAA) for a 7a–7p Saturday and Sunday shift. The role supports the interprofessional team, performing delegated nursing assistant tasks and basic ADLs under supervision of a licensed nurse.

Strong communication and basic computer/med terminology skills are required. Qualified candidates will have CNA/CMA/PCA experience (18+ months), a high school diploma or equivalent, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• 18+ months CNA/CMA/PCA experience
• 1 year of secretarial/office work or internal cross-training
• Prior health care experience and/or medical terminology preferred
• BLS certification (AHA) required or preferred

Responsibilities

• Answer unit calls and transfers; greet patients and visitors and provide directions
• Communicate effectively with patients, families and co-workers
• Assist with basic ADLs and patient comfort under supervision of a nurse
• Coordinate with physicians' offices and unit operations for bed management and transfers
• Document patient care and maintain unit workflow and equipment readiness
