General Summary of Position

Job Summary:

MedStar Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician in the Emergency Department (PCT ED) to join our team at MedStar Montgomery Medical Center. As a PCT ED, you will be part of the patient-centered care team, providing direct care activities under the supervision of registered nurses or medical providers to patients with various conditions. Your responsibilities include assisting with procedures, specimen collection, and activities of daily living (ADLs).

Primary Duties:

• Provide direct patient care under supervision, assisting with ADLs, personal hygiene, and performing procedures such as IV insertions, phlebotomy, EKGs, and specimen collection.
• Assist with vital signs, documentation, treatments, and activities like Foley catheter insertion/removal, wound care, and maintaining oxygen equipment.
• Maintain patient comfort, privacy, and dignity. Observe patients, ensure safety, and assist providers and nurses during examinations and procedures.
• Participate in patient and family education, transport patients, and perform errands such as delivering specimens and supplies.
• Ensure cleanliness and safety of patient areas, assist with environmental services, and restock supplies.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Completion of an approved nursing assistant certification program.
• 1-2 years of experience as a CNA; Maryland CNA certification required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience as a care technician, EMT, or paramedic is preferred.
• Experience in acute or long-term care settings is preferred.
• Student nurse in junior or senior year, or Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

This position has a hiring range of $19.17 - $33.08.
