MedStar Health is looking for a Patient Care Technician to join our team at Franklin Square Hospital. The ideal candidate will have basic math knowledge and verbal/written communication skills to serve as a Patient Care Technician in our Emergency Department (ED).
This person will function as a member of the patient-centered care team to provide direct patient care activities in the emergency department under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or medical providers to patients with acute, non-acute, and/or rapidly changing conditions and needs. Assists nursing and medical staff with procedures and/or tests, and patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). Performs specific care activities such as specimen collection, phlebotomy, IV insertion, EKG, and documentation in the health record.

Provides direct patient care activities under supervision, assisting with ADLs, personal hygiene, and performing procedures like eye and ear irrigation, applying dressings, and fitting patients for mobility aids.
Collects specimens, performs venipuncture, obtains EKGs, inserts and manages IVs, and assists in vital signs measurement and documentation.
Performs routine treatments such as Foley and nasogastric tube insertion/removal, wound care, patient turning, postmortem care, and maintenance of medical devices.
Maintains patient comfort, privacy, and dignity; performs observation duties, reports concerns, initiates CPR, and participates in patient/family education.
Ensures a safe and clean environment, manages linen and supplies, and transports patients as needed.
This position has a hiring range of $19.17 - $33.08.
