Job summary

UnityPoint Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician for Methodist West Hospital in West Des Moines, IA. The role supports nursing staff under an RN, performing basic patient care, mobility assistance, and daily activities to ensure patient comfort.

A $5,000 sign-on bonus is available for full-time new hires. Shifts include Part-Time Nights/Days and Full-Time 11a-11p with weekend and holiday rotations; must maintain BLS and CNA/EMT-B certification as required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Some positions may require at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and treatments under supervision of a RN.
• Documents care including activities of daily living, mobility, specimen collection and respiratory support as directed by the RN.
• Ability to lift, move, position and transport patients.
• Demonstrates the ability to meet the department work schedule.
• Demonstrates initiative to improve quality of care, patient and employee safety, and customer service.

Under the direct supervision of a Nurse, the Patient Care Tech provides basic nursing care for the personal and comfort needs of the patient.

Units Available

• 3 West Ortho & Med/Surg

Shifts

• Part-Time Nights
• Part-Time Days
• Emergency Department

Shift

• Full-Time 11a-11p

**Please note: all shifts will include a weekend and holiday rotation

Shift Differentials

• Shift differential of $2.65/hr for hours worked 3pm-7am
• Weekend shift differential of $2.50/hr for hours worked between Friday 11pm to Monday 7am

License(s)/Certification(s)

• Successful completion and documentation of one of the following:
• Basic CNA Course or EMT-B Certification
• Valid Driver's License when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons
• Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within three months from date of hire
• Minimum Experience: Comprehensive on-the-job training provided - no prior experience necessary
