Job summary

UnityPoint Health is hiring a Patient Care Technician at Lutheran Hospital. The role provides basic nursing care under RN supervision and includes weekends and holidays.

A $5,000 sign-on bonus is offered for eligible full-time hires, with multiple shifts across units including 3 North Cardiology, Emergency Department, and 2 North Med/Surg. Shifts include Full-Time Nights, Day/Night Flex, and Part-Time Day/Evening Flex.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old; some positions may require 18.
• CNA certification preferred; Basic CNA course or EMT-B acceptable.
• Valid driver's license when driving for work.
• Must possess and maintain current BLS certification or obtain within three months of hire.
• Comprehensive on-the-job training provided.

Responsibilities

• PCT provides and documents care under RN supervision, including ADLs and mobility.
• Assist with mobility, positioning and transport of patients.
• Meet department work schedule and demonstrate initiative to improve care and safety.

Under the direct supervision of a Nurse, the Patient Care Tech provides basic nursing care for the personal and comfort needs of the patient.

Units & Shifts Available:

• 3 North Cardiology

    • Part-Time Day/Evening Flex

Please note: shifts will include a weekend and holiday rotation

Shift Differentials:

• Shift differential of $2.65/hr for hours worked 3pm-7am
• Weekend shift differential of $2.50/hr for hours worked between Friday 11pm to Monday 7am

Responsibilities

• PCT performs patient care and treatments under supervision of a RN. Provides and documents care including, but not limited to, activities of daily living, mobility, specimen collection and respiratory support activities as directed by the RN.
• Possess the ability to lift, move, position and transport patients.
• Demonstrates the ability to meet the department work schedule.
• Demonstrates initiative to improve quality of care, patient and employee safety, and customer service.

Qualifications

Experience: Must be at least 16 years old

License(s)/Certification(s): Successful completion and documentation of one of the following:

1. CNA Certification preferred
2. Basic CNA Course or EMT-B Certification
3. Valid Driver's License when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons
4. Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within three months from date of hire

Minimum Experience: Comprehensive on-the-job training provided
