Job summary

UnityPoint Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician at Methodist West Hospital. A $5,000 Sign-On Bonus is available for full-time hires. The role supports nursing staff, delivering basic care, comfort, ADLs, and respiratory assistance under RN supervision.

Shifts vary: Part-Time Nights/Days in 3 West Ortho & Med/Surg and Full-Time 11a-11p in Emergency Department, with weekend and holiday rotations. Prior CNA/EMT-B/BLS credentials are required or obtainable within a few months.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Some positions may require at least 18 years old.
• Current BLS certification or obtain within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• PCT performs patient care and treatments under supervision of a RN.
• Provides and documents care including ADLs, mobility, specimen collection and respiratory support as directed by the RN.
• Must possess and maintain ability to lift, move, position and transport patients.
• Demonstrates the ability to meet the department work schedule.
• Demonstrates initiative to improve quality of care, patient and employee safety, and customer service.

Patient Care Technician - Methodist West Hospital

Under the direct supervision of a Nurse, the Patient Care Tech provides basic nursing care for the personal and comfort needs of the patient.

Units Available

• 3 West Ortho & Med/Surg
  • Shifts:
    • Part-Time Nights
    • Part-Time Days
• Emergency Department
  • Shift:
    • Full-Time 11a-11p

Please note: all shifts will include a weekend and holiday rotation

Shift Differentials

• Shift differential of $2.65/hr for hours worked 3pm-7am
• Weekend shift differential of $2.50/hr for hours worked between Friday 11pm to Monday 7am

Qualifications

Experience: Must be at least 16 years old

License(s)/Certification(s): Successful completion and documentation of one of the following:

1. Basic CNA Course or EMT-B Certification
2. Valid Driver's License when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons
3. Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within three months from date of hire

Minimum Experience: Comprehensive on-the-job training provided - no prior experience necessary
