Job summary

Highmark Health in Pittsburgh is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care under RN supervision. You will perform basic nursing procedures, assist with activities of daily living, monitor vitals, and help coordinate inpatient unit activities for stable patients.

The position emphasizes patient dignity, HIPAA compliance, documentation in the electronic medical record, and collaboration with the care team to ensure safe, efficient care.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
• Limited or no experience: Must be able to attend 2 weeks of training.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Basic computer skills.
• Preferred Acute care experience within last 3 years.
• Currently enrolled in ASN or BSN program; preference for those with clinical rotation completed.

Responsibilities

• Provides, obtains or performs and documents direct patient care and activities such as ADLs, vital signs, ambulation, specimen collection, intake and output, meal consumption, height and weight, blood glucose testing/monitoring, and transport of patients and records.
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives such as bedside shift report and hourly rounding for safety and cleanliness.
• Accurately documents vital signs, weights, I&O, restraints, specimen collection, and other treatments; reports changes to nursing staff.
• Participates in unit activities such as supply stocking and equipment cleaning and retrieval.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
