Job summary

Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh is seeking a patient care support role to provide direct patient care and assist with non-direct unit coordination. The incumbent will perform basic nursing procedures for stable patients and support the RN in acutely ill cases, while maintaining patient dignity and HIPAA compliance.

This position requires timely care, accurate EMR documentation, and participation in safety initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Basic computer skills.
• Preferred Acute care experience within last 3 years.
• Currently enrolled in ASN or BSN program.

Responsibilities

• Provides, obtains or performs and documents direct patient care and activities such as activities of daily living, vital signs, ambulation, specimen collection, intake and output, meal consumption, height and weight, blood glucose testing/monitoring, bladder scanning, transporting of patients and their medical record, documentation of O2, early mobilization and ambulation protocols, assistance with exam, treatments and procedures.
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives such as bedside shift report, hourly rounding promoting safety and maintaining a clean environment.
• Accurately documents vital signs, weights, I&O, restraints, specimen collection, and all other treatments; reports changes to nursing staff.
• Participates in unit activity such as supply stocking and equipment cleaning.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
