Job summary

Highmark Health in Pittsburgh is seeking a patient care associate to provide direct care to stable patients and assist the RN with acutely ill patients. You will perform basic nursing tasks, document care in the electronic medical record, and help coordinate admissions, discharges, and transfers under supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, ability to read/write, basic math, and computer skills; CPR certification and security clearances are also required.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Basic computer skills.
• Preferred: Acute care experience within last 3 years.
• Enrollment in ASN/BSN programs encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care and activities of daily living.
• Participates in quality and patient safety initiatives and rounding.
• Documents vital signs, intake/output, weights, and other treatments in the EMR.
• Reports changes in patient condition to the RN.
• Assists with admissions, discharges, and transfers; supports unit activities.
