Northwestern Medicine Catherine Gratz Griffin Lake Forest Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Tech to support patient care delivery in a dynamic hospital setting. The role emphasizes specimen handling, EKG administration, catheter management, and bladder scanning in collaboration with registered nurses.

A CNA credential or nursing student status completed with clinical rotation is required, along with BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited CNA program and listed on the Illinois CNA Registry OR nursing student who has completed one clinical rotation.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Collects, labels and transports specimens as assigned.
• Obtains 12 lead EKG’s.
• Discontinues Saline Locks and Indwelling Urinary Catheters.
• Performs bladder scan and point of care testing as appropriate.
• Assists patients with personal hygiene and nutritional needs as identified in the plan of care.
• Performs hourly patient rounding in collaboration with the clinical RN.
