Job summary

UMass Memorial Health, located in Central Massachusetts, is seeking a Patient Care Tech III to join the care team. The role supports patient care, assists with procedures, and helps maintain safety and comfort across units including telemetry and ED settings.

Responsibilities include vital signs, phlebotomy in certain locations, EKGs, and collaboration with RNs and licensed practitioners. A strong clinical foundation and calm demeanor under pressure are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school education or GED.
• Current Basic Life Support.
• 1 year of acute care/hospital experience or 1 year of EMT Paramedic experience.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Medical Terminology.
• Computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills to gather information and build relationships.
• Must remain calm when under stress or in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Communicate observations to the RN about patient changes.
• Provide constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned.
• Assist in maintaining a safe environment and de-escalate when needed.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and mobility.
• Support treatments by preparing equipment and supplies.
