Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician III to join our Emergency Department team. You will support patient care across multiple units, perform vital signs, phlebotomy where needed, and assist with procedures.

A strong focus on communication, safety, and teamwork under licensed supervision is essential. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and current BLS, with preferred experience in acute care or EMT.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school education or GED.
• Current Basic Life Support.
• Demonstrated competency in the PCT II level or 1 year of acute care/hospital experience or 1 year of EMT Paramedic experience.

Responsibilities

• Communicate clearly with the RN about patient observations and changes.
• Provide constant observation for high-risk patients.
• Help maintain a safe environment and assist with de-escalation techniques when needed.
• Assist patients with daily living activities such as hygiene, mobility, and meals.
• Support in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients with proper safety.
• Perform vital signs, lab specimen handling, and basic bedside procedures as directed.
• Assist RN/LIP with treatments by preparing equipment and supplies and maintaining sterile technique.
