Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Tech III to join the Emergency/Acute care teams. The role supports registered nurses, performs vital signs, EKGs, and point-of-care tests, and assists with patient mobility and daily living activities.

Responsibilities include maintaining a safe care environment, communicating care needs to RNs, and aiding in procedures under licensed clinicians. Strong English communication and basic computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school education or GED.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Demonstrated competency in PCT II level or 1 year of acute care/hospital or EMT Paramedic experience.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Medical Terminology.
• Computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear, timely communication to the RN regarding patient observations.
• Maintain safety and de-escalation practices and assist with restraints as directed.
• Assist patients with daily living activities and mobility.
• Perform vital signs, EKGs, and point-of-care tests per hospital standards.
• Assist with treatments and procedures, patient setup, and equipment preparation.
• Maintain department standards and attend required meetings and trainings.
