Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Clinton, MA is seeking a Patient Care Technician III to join the Emergency Department on a part-time basis. You will support nursing staff, monitor patients, take vital signs, assist with daily living activities, and ensure safety and comfort for acutely ill patients.

The role requires strong English communication, basic life support, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-based environment.

Qualifications

• High school education or GED required.
• Current Basic Life Support certification required.
• English literacy and clear communication skills required.
• Medical Terminology knowledge.
• Computer skills sufficient for patient care documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes in patients.
• Maintains constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned.
• Assists in maintaining a safe patient environment and uses de-escalation techniques as needed.
• Assists patients with daily living activities and mobility.
• Performs vital signs and basic measurements; prepares specimens for transport to lab.
• Assists with treatments and procedures under supervision and supports the care team.
• Answers calls, relays messages, and supports unit operations as needed.
