Job summary

Northwestern Medicine Catherine Gratz Griffin Lake Forest Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician. The role requires a CNA certification and BLS, and involves collecting specimens, performing EKGs, catheter care, bladder scans, and assisting with patient care and safety at the Lake Forest campus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited CNA program and listed on the state CNA Registry OR Nursing student who has completed one clinical rotation.
• BLS through American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Collects, labels and transports specimens as assigned.
• Obtains 12 lead EKGs.
• Discontinues Saline Locks and Indwelling Urinary Catheters.
• Performs bladder scan and point of care testing as appropriate.
• Assists patients with personal hygiene and nutritional needs.
• Performs hourly patient rounding with the RN.
• Documents patient care data as directed by the RN.

Education
