The role provides bedside support under RN/MD supervision, handles specimens, performs EKGs and bladder scans, and assists with mobility, hygiene, and safety tasks as outlined in the plan of care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited CNA program and listed on Illinois CNA Registry.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Performs clinical/patient care tasks under RN or physician supervision.
• Collects, labels and transports specimens as assigned.
• Obtains 12 lead EKGs and assists with urinary catheters.
• Monitors telemetry packs and performs bladder scans.
• Performs point of care testing as appropriate.
• Assists with ambulation, positioning and patient hygiene per plan of care.
• Responds promptly to call lights and safety needs.
• Supports safe clinical environment for patients, families and staff.
• Participates in learning and training, including annual required training.
• Supports performance improvement initiatives to meet unit targets.
