Northwestern Medicine Catherine Gratz Griffin Lake Forest Hospital seeks a Patient Care Tech to join our team in Lake Forest, IL. You will collect specimens, assist with EKGs, manage urinary catheters, and support patient care under the supervision of the RN.

This role emphasizes safety, accurate data entry, and compassionate patient assistance across shifts. Required: high school diploma or equivalent, CNA training or nursing student rotation, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CNA program completion and listed on Illinois CNA Registry OR nursing student who completed one clinical rotation.
• BLS through American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Collects, labels and transports specimens as assigned.
• Obtains 12 lead EKGs.
• Discontinues Saline Locks and Indwelling Urinary Catheters.
• Discontinues Telemetry Monitoring packs.
• Performs Bladder Scan.
• Performs Point of Care Testing as appropriate.
• Assists patients with personal hygiene and nutritional needs as identified on the plan of care.
• Performs hourly patient rounding in collaboration with the clinical RN.
• Obtains and documents patient care data as directed by the clinical RN and noted in the plan of care.
• Assists with patient ambulation and positioning as directed in the plan of care.
• Assists the health care team in meeting individualized patient needs.
• Responds to patient call lights and requests for assistance in a professional and timely manner.
• Maintains a clinical care environment that supports patient, family and staff safety.
• Assists with post mortem care.
• Identifies and meets learning needs; completes annual required training and updates knowledge through periodic in-services.
• Participates in performance improvement activities that advance innovative processes.
