Job summary

Northwestern Medicine Catherine Gratz Griffin Lake Forest Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Tech to support nursing staff, perform basic care tasks and assist with patient needs in a busy hospital unit.

The role requires a CNA program completion or nursing student status, along with BLS certification and a high school diploma. You will work under the supervision of registered nurses to ensure patient comfort and safety on a full-time basis.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited CNA program and be listed on the Illinois CNA Registry OR nursing student with one clinical rotation completed.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association required.

Responsibilities

• Collects, labels and transports specimens as assigned.
• Obtains 12 lead EKGs.
• Discontinues Saline Locks and Indwelling Urinary Catheters.
• Discontinues Telemetry Monitoring packs.
• Performs Bladder Scan.
• Performs Point of Care Testing as appropriate.
• Assists patients with personal hygiene and nutrition as identified in the plan of care.
• Performs hourly patient rounding with RN.
• Obtains and documents patient care data as directed by the RN.
