Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of an accredited CNA program and listed on the Illinois CNA Registry, or nursing student who has completed one clinical rotation and can provide verification.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of clinical/patient care related functions under the direction of the RN or physician to support patients and staff.
• Collects, labels and transports specimens as assigned; obtains 12-lead EKGs; discontinuues saline locks and indwelling urinary catheters; monitors telemetry packs.
• Performs bladder scans and point-of-care testing as appropriate; assists with personal hygiene and nutritional needs per plan of care; conducts hourly rounds with the RN.
• Assists the health care team to meet patient needs and responds to call lights promptly; maintains safe clinical environment; participates in learning and performance improvement activities.
• Additional duties include managing patient admissions via Electronic Bed Board and ensuring EMR readiness during downtime.
