Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a full-time Patient Care Tech in Illinois. Under RN supervision, you will perform basic patient care tasks, monitor vital signs, and assist with activities of daily living.

You will liaise with nursing staff to ensure smooth unit operations and patient comfort. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, and certification such as CNA/CMA/EMT or a nursing student with clinicals, plus BLS.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• CNA or CMA or EMT or nursing student with one semester of clinical completed.
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
• Assists patients with personal care and activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating).
• Reports abnormal findings or changes in condition to nursing staff.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and multi-tasking under stress.
• Prioritizes unit work and collaborates with charge RN and staff.
