Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Technician in Chicago to support Registered Nurses and deliver high-quality direct and indirect patient care on the unit.

You will assist with admission/discharge, monitor vitals, perform phlebotomy, feed patients, help with newborn care, and ensure safety. This role requires CNA certification or nursing student status, CPR, and a commitment to patient-first care.

Qualifications

• CNA certification or current enrollment in nursing with completed basic clinical rotations.
• CPR certification recognized by the American Heart Association.
• High school diploma required; college-level nursing coursework preferred.
• Experience in healthcare and ability to relate to patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
• Take and record vital signs and patient measurements.
• Perform phlebotomy, glucose checks, and newborn care as directed.
• Respond to patient calls and ensure safety and comfort.
• Transport patients and equipment as needed and assist with procedures.
• Maintain clean, safe patient environments and participate in unit tasks.
