Job summary

Wayne UNC Health Care in Wayne County, NC, seeks a Unit Secretary-Nursing Assistant I to provide secretarial support and basic nursing care during night shifts. You will greet patients, take vital signs, perform personal care tasks, and document patient information while coordinating with nurses and providers.

The role requires NC Nurse Aide I registration, BCLS, and at least one year in a health care setting. This full-time position is onsite at WAYNE MED with standard 36 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Completion of state approved Level 1 Nurse Aide training and competency evaluation program or equivalent.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; higher education supersedes this requirement.

Responsibilities

• Greets and directs patients and visitors professionally.
• Measures vital signs and assists with basic nursing care.
• Completes documentation accurately per unit standards.
• Promotes effective communication among patients, teammates, and providers.
• Ensures safe, clean environment and infection control.
• Responds to emergencies and coordinates needed resources.
• Provides customer service to patients and visitors, building rapport.
