Job summary

The Unit Secretary-Nursing Assistant I at Wayne UNC Health Care supports the 6 Main Medical Surgical unit with secretarial tasks and basic nursing care during the night shift. Under RN/LPN supervision, you will document, greet patients, and coordinate communications.

Requirements include Level 1 Nurse Aide training, NC CNA I registry, BCLS, and a high school diploma; one year of healthcare experience is preferred. This is an on-site role with a 36-hour work week.

Qualifications

• Completion of state approved Level 1 Nurse Aide training and competency evaluation program or its equivalent.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; higher education supersedes.
• Current listing on the NC Nurse Aide I registry.
• Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).

Responsibilities

• Greet and direct patients and visitors professionally.
• Provide basic nursing care such as vital signs, hygiene, and feeding assistance.
• Complete documentation accurately and thoroughly.
• Promote effective communication among patients, families, and staff.
• Coordinate appointments and assist with unit operations and patient flow.
