Job summary

Wayne UNC Health Care in North Carolina seeks a Unit Secretary-Nursing Assistant I to perform secretarial support and basic nursing care. The role supports RN/LPN supervision, communicates with staff and patients, and helps maintain a safe, organized unit.

You will participate in vital sign checks, personal care, nutrition support, and documentation while ensuring high-quality patient experiences and effective teamwork in a fast-paced ICU setting.

Qualifications

• Completion of state approved Level 1 Nurse Aide training and competency evaluation.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Current NC Nurse Aide I registry listing; BCLS certification.
• At least one year healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet and direct patients and visitors professionally.
• Answer telephone and call bell promptly.
• Measure vital signs (temperature, pulse, BP, etc.).
• Provide personal care (bathing, grooming, etc.).
• Assist with nutrition and feeding.
• Assist with elimination needs; catheters, bowel/bladder training.
• Record height/weight and intake/output.
• Document accurately and maintain records.
• Communicate with team and coordinate care.
• Procure supplies and maintain unit organization.
