Job summary

UNC Health Care in Wayne, NC is seeking a Unit Secretary-Nursing Assistant I to provide essential secretarial support and basic nursing care during the night shift. You will greet patients, take vital signs, assist with daily activities, and document care while coordinating with RNs, LPNs and providers.

Ideal candidates will have Level 1 Nurse Aide training, NC Nurse Aide I registry, BCLS certification, and at least one year in health care.

Qualifications

• Completion of state approved Level 1 Nurse Aide training and competency evaluation program or its equivalent.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; higher education supersedes this requirement.
• Current listing on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I registry and BCLS certification.
• At least one year in a health care role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in providing a quality patient experience, greeting patients and visitors professionally.
• Provides basic nursing care tasks such as measuring vitals, personal care, and assisting with meals.
• Completes documentation accurately according to unit standards and updates patient information as needed.
• Promotes effective communication among patients, teammates, and providers during handoffs and inquiries.
• Supports teamwork and collaborates with other departments to ensure smooth operations.
• Maintains a safe, clean environment and follows infection control and safety procedures.
