Job summary

University of Utah Health is seeking a patient-focused Scheduling Specialist to coordinate appointments across departments, guiding patients before, during, and after visits. You will manage pre/post-op scheduling, verify insurance, and serve as a liaison between patients, physicians, and clinical staff to ensure a smooth care journey.

Qualifications

• Two years of relevant experience in healthcare coordination or administrative role.
• Experience with Epic scheduling/registration and insurance processes is preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple appointments and communicate effectively with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and coordinate appointments, including pre/post-op care and imaging.
• Manage waitlists and adjust appointment capacity across locations.
• Confirm appointments and provide pre-procedure instructions.
• Verify and track patient records from outside organizations before appointments.
• Serve as liaison between patients, physicians and clinical staff during appointments.
• Process payments and reconcile daily financials with insurers as needed.
• Coordinate surgical cases, manage OR block time and arrange multidisciplinary care.
• Conduct outreach for new patient visits and transfers of care.
