Job summary

Optum Huntington Urgent Care in West Islip, NY is seeking a patient-focused Patient Care Coordinator. You will greet patients, sign in, manage registrations, verify insurance, collect payments, and support care teams with scheduling and referrals.

The role requires basic medical office experience, strong computer skills, and ability to travel to local offices as needed. Office operates seven days a week with varied shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience with Microsoft Office programs.
• Experience in a medical office setting (scheduling, check-in/out, insurance verification, collecting co-pays, maintaining records).
• Ability to travel to Nassau/Suffolk regions.
• Ability to be cross-trained as a medical assistant.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, family members and guests with a friendly approach.
• Assist patients with signing in and registration.
• Enter patient demographics and insurance information into Epic.
• Verify insurance coverage and explain benefits to patients.
• Collect co-pays and patient balances.
• Answer incoming calls promptly and route messages.
