Job summary

Vanderbilt Health in Nashville is seeking a patient care unit clerk to provide clerical and receptionist services to patients, families, visitors, staff and physicians. This role supports workflow, uses hospital technology, and fosters effective communication across departments.

You will manage orders, update patient information, and coordinate follow-up appointments while contributing to a compassionate, efficient care environment for our neighbors in the region.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Less than 1 year of related work experience.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Processes orders according to guidelines and follows downtime procedures.
• Enters and updates information in computer systems to ensure accuracy.
• Maintains unit log, schedules follow-up appointments and discharge tasks.
• Responds to patient call system and provides clear information to families and staff.
• Uses telephone, paging, fax, scanning and other devices to facilitate communication and workflow.
• Orders, maintains and uses supplies cost-effectively.
• Additional duties as assigned.
