Job summary

SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) seeks a Patient Care Coordination Specialist I to be the entry point for patients and providers, handling registration, scheduling, and insurance verification in the EHR. You will ensure accuracy, assist with check-in, collect co-pays, and manage communications to support clinic flow.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
• One year of healthcare, customer service, or administrative experience preferred.
• Knowledge of customer service principles.
• Basic understanding of front-end revenue cycle and registration requirements.
• Accurate data entry with attention to detail.
• Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Computer skills to use medical databases competently.
• Ability to operate medical equipment (BP cuff, pulse oximeter, EKG, etc.).
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for patients, providers, and staff via phone, email, or in person.
• Register and pre-register patients with accurate demographic, insurance, and eligibility data in the EHR.
• Perform patient check-in and support self-check-in; collect co-pays and complete required forms.
• Monitor appointment confirmations and follow up on unconfirmed appointments.
• Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments across service lines per protocol.
• Escalate complex issues and communicate clearly and professionally.
• Process travel documents and medical records per policy; support clinic flow.
• Uphold confidentiality and SEARHC standards; participate in improvement initiatives.
• Support enrollment in the MySEARHC patient portal.
• May require flexible scheduling based on clinic operations.
