Job summary

Harris Health is seeking a Patient Care Assistant I (PCA I) to support patient care in clinic and inpatient units under RN supervision. You will perform basic patient care, and use medical terminology, communication and computer skills to assist the care team.

The PCA I works with charge nurses and staff to ensure patient needs are met, while maintaining patient safety and clinical effectiveness across settings.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED or technical skills/training appropriate to the specialty area.
• Licensure/Certification: Certified Nurse Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from an AHA-approved program.
• One year of related clinical experience preferred.
• SAMA certification within 90 days of hire.
• EKG and/or Phlebotomy competency validation as applicable within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Support patient care activities under supervision of a registered nurse.
• Coordinate with charge nurse and staff nurses to ensure patient needs are met.
• Demonstrate basic patient care skills, medical terminology, communication and computer use.
