Job summary

Harris Health is seeking a Patient Care Assistant I (PCA I) to support patient care activities under the supervision of a registered nurse in clinic and inpatient units. The PCA I collaborates with the charge nurse and staff to meet patient needs and performs basic patient care tasks with accuracy and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED or equivalent technical training.
• Certified Nurse Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant; nursing students may be exempt if recently completed first clinical.
• Basic Life Support from AHA hospital-based program.
• Other certificates as required by unit.
• One year related clinical experience preferred.
• SAMA certification within 90 days of hire.
• EKG and/or Phlebotomy competency validation within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care activities under supervision of a registered nurse.
• Coordinate with charge nurse and staff to ensure patient needs are met.
• Demonstrate basic patient care skills, medical terminology, communication, organization and computer skills.
• Uphold patient safety measures.
