Job summary

Harris Health System in Houston is seeking a Patient Care Assistant I (PCA I) to support patient care activities under the supervision of a registered nurse in clinic and inpatient units. The PCA I works with the charge nurse and staff nurses to meet patient needs, performing basic care tasks and using medical terminology, with strong communication and PC skills.

Eligibility includes CNA or CMA certification and BLS.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED.
• Certification: Certified Nurse Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant.
• BLS certification from an AHA approved program.
• SAMA certification within 90 days of hire.
• EKG and/or Phlebotomy competency validation within 6 months of hire.
• One year clinical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
• Assist with patient safety, hygiene, and comfort.
• Document patient information and assist with care coordination.
