Job summary

Harris Health System, Inc. seeks a Patient Care Assistant I (PCA I) to support patient care activities in clinic and inpatient units under RN supervision.

The PCA I will work with the charge nurse and staff nurses to ensure patient needs are met and will perform basic patient care tasks with proficiency in medical terminology and communications. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, BLS certification, and clinical/certifications such as SAMA within 90 days.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or technical skills/training appropriate to the specialty area.
• BLS from an AHA-approved program.
• Other certificates as required by unit/service/clinic.
• SAMA certification within 90 days of hire.
• EKG and/or Phlebotomy competency validation within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Support patient care activities under the supervision of a registered nurse in clinic and inpatient units.
• Coordinate with charge nurse and staff nurses to ensure patient care needs are met.
• Demonstrate basic patient care activities, medical terminology, communication, organization and computer skills.
