Harris Health is seeking a Patient Care Assistant I (PCA I) to support patient care activities under the supervision of a registered nurse in clinic and inpatient units. The role collaborates with the charge nurse and staff nurses to ensure patient needs are met and safety is maintained.

The position emphasizes basic patient care, medical terminology, effective communication, and reliable computer use, with a focus on compassion and teamwork in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Licensure/Certification: Certified Nurse Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant; nursing students may be exempt.
• BLS from an AHA-approved program.
• Other certificates as required by unit/service/clinic.
• Work Experience: One year of related clinical experience preferred.
• SAMA certification within 90 days of hire.
• EKG and/or Phlebotomy competency validation required, as applicable to specialty area within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• The PCA I is accountable for supporting patient care activities under the supervision of a registered nurse.
• The PCA I works with the charge nurse and staff nurses to assure patient care needs are met.
• The PCA I performs basic patient care activities, uses medical terminology, communicates effectively, and demonstrates organizational and computer skills.
