Job summary

Parkland Health and Hospital System Irving Health Center is seeking a Medical Practice Assistant to provide patient-centered care and operational support to the medical team. The role coordinates across clinical areas, assists with data collection, screenings, and essential office tasks to enhance patient experiences.

Ideal candidates will have 3 years of customer service experience in healthcare, strong communication skills, and familiarity with medical terminology.

Qualifications

• Must have three years of customer service experience, preferably in a medical/healthcare setting.
• Familiarity with diagnostic ICD-9-CM coding and HCPCS-CPT4 codes is a plus.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; bilingual is preferred.
• Completion of coursework toward medical terminology is preferred.
• Medical Office Assistant training or experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Ensures patient and family comfort, safety, privacy, and confidentiality at all times.
• Greets patients and families, providing directions and information as requested.
• Notes wait times and factors affecting the visit to keep patients informed.
• Coordinates activities to facilitate smooth patient flow across clinical areas.
