  • Experience in patient financial services.
  • Knowledge of Commercial, State, and Federal insurance plans and related authorization processes.
  • Familiarity with medical and billing terminology.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Proficient with computers and MS Office.
  • Experience in home health/hospice/palliative care patient services is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and enter patient prepayments and send payment docs to AR.
  • Run daily reports for pre-admission communication and authorizations.
  • Coordinate with Central intake and AR on referrals and verifications.
  • Scan financial information into patient charts.
  • Distribute incoming mail from patients, offices, other departments, and insurers.
  • Assemble and mail follow-up admission financial packets.
  • Maintain up-to-date pre-admission financial forms.
  • Print clinical docs for authorization requests and update charts.
  • Respond to emails and calls regarding authorization status.
  • Conduct year-end reviews of active patient accounts.
