Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in finance with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in patient financial services (insurance benefits, payment plans).
  • Knowledge of Commercial, State, and Federal insurance plans and any corresponding authorization processes.
  • Proficient reading and understanding of medical and billing terminology.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Experience in home health/hospice/palliative care patient services preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and enter patient prepayments and forward payment documentation to the AR Department for processing.
  • Run daily reports to aid in the pre-admission patient communication and ongoing authorization processes.
  • Monitor daily new admissions and coordinate with Central intake and AR for status of referrals and insurance verifications.
  • Scan pre-admission financial information and authorization correspondence into patients' charts.
  • Sort and distribute incoming mailed correspondence from patients, clinical offices, other departments, and insurers.
  • Assemble and mail the follow-up admission financial packet to the patient.
  • Maintain up-to-date copies of pre-admission financial forms and authorization cover sheets.
  • Enter all authorization approvals into the appropriate areas of the patients' charts.
  • Respond to clinical office emails regarding status of authorization requests and pre-admission phone calls.
  • Conduct year-end reviews of all active patient accounts under supervisor.

Job Description

Job Requirements
  • High-School diploma required.
  • 2 years of experience in finance utilizing people skills.
  • Experience in patient financial services (i.e. insurance benefits, payment plans, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Commercial, State, and Federal insurance plans and any corresponding authorization processes.
  • Possess knowledge of medical as well as billing terminology and is skilled in reading, understanding, and utilizing on a daily basis.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must possess the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Strong organizational skills and time management abilities.
  • High computer proficiency and ability to navigate database systems; ability to generate multiple reports and MS Office products.
  • Experience specifically in home health/ hospice/palliative care patient services preferred.
