US Oncology Inc. is seeking a Patient Benefits Representative to join the Revenue Cycle team at Texas Oncology in Houston.

This full-time role involves educating patients about insurance coverage, assessing financial ability, and guiding them through assistance programs. Responsibilities include collecting insurance information, obtaining pre-authorizations, updating eligibility in the system, and coordinating with front desk to ensure correct billing and patient assistance; level 1 or Sr based

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum three (3) years patient pre-services coordinator or equivalent required.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) required.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of CPT coding and HCPCS coding application.
  • Must be able to verbally communicate clearly and utilize the appropriate terminology.
  • Must successfully complete required e-learning courses within 90 days of occupying position.

Responsibilities

  • Prior to a patient receiving treatment; obtains insurance coverage information and demographics; educates patient on insurance coverage, benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses.
  • Assess patients ability to meet expenses and discusses payment arrangements; educates on financial assistance programs and identify sources; completes Patient Cost Estimate form.
  • Completes reimbursement and liability forms for patient's review and signature; forwards information to billing office.
  • Obtain insurance pre-authorization or referral approval codes prior to each treatment.
  • Review patient account balance and notify front desk to meet with
  • Ensure patient co-pay is correctly entered into system for collection
  • Verify and update demographics and insurance coverage at each visit
  • Stay current on financial aide; develop relationships with providers
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA
  • Performs additional duties as requested.
