Job summary

US Oncology Inc. through Texas Oncology seeks a Patient Benefits Representative to educate patients on insurance coverage and benefits, assess financial ability, and help with eligibility and assistance programs to ease the financial journey.

Working in the Medical/Radiation Oncology Department at Beaumont, you will manage pre-authorization, verify demographics and coverage at visits, and coordinate with the billing team to ensure accurate patient cost estimates.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum three (3) years patient pre-services coordinator or equivalent.
• Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) required.
• Demonstrate knowledge of CPT coding and HCPCS coding application.
• Must be able to verbally communicate clearly and utilize the appropriate terminology.
• Must complete required e-learning courses within 90 days of occupying position.

Responsibilities

• Pre-services: obtain insurance coverage information and educate patients on benefits.
• Assess patient financial ability and discuss payment arrangements.
• Complete reimbursement and liability forms for patient review.
• Obtain pre-authorization or referral codes before each treatment.
• Review patient balances and notify front desk.
• Ensure correct entry of patient co-pays in the system.
• Verify and update demographics and insurance at each visit.
• Develop relationships with financial aid providers.
