Job summary

The US Oncology Network's Texas Oncology in Sugarland, TX is seeking a Patient Benefits Representative to support the Medical/Surgical/Radiation Oncology Department. This full-time role involves educating patients on insurance coverage, assessing financial need, and helping with eligibility and benefits in the system.

Work hours are Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm. Level 1 or Sr will be offered based on experience, with responsibilities including obtaining pre-authorization, billing coordination,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum three (3) years patient pre-services coordinator or equivalent required.
• Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) required.
• Knowledge of CPT coding and HCPCS coding application.
• Must be able to verbally communicate clearly and utilize appropriate terminology.
• Must complete required e-learning courses within 90 days of occupying position.
• Associates degree in Finance, Business or four years revenue cycle experience preferred.
• Minimum three (3) years pre-services coordinator experience and two (2) years of patient benefits experience required.

Responsibilities

• Obtain insurance coverage information and demographics prior to treatment and educate patients on coverage, benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and expenses.
• Assess patients' ability to meet expenses and discuss payment arrangements; identify financial assistance programs.
• Complete reimbursement and liability forms for patient review and signature; forward information to billing.
• Obtain insurance pre-authorization or referral approval codes prior to each treatment from Clinical Reviewer.
• Review patient account balance and notify front desk of patients to meet with.
• Ensure correct entry of patient co-pay amounts into system for front desk collection.
• Verify/update demographics and insurance coverage at each patient visit per SOPs.
• Stay current on available financial aide; build relationships with financial aid providers.
• Adhere to confidentiality and HIPAA; maintain manuals, logs, and documentation.
• Perform other duties as requested.
