Job summary

Boys Town is seeking a Patient Access Supervisor to lead scheduling, registration, discharge, and posting services across clinic and hospital locations. The role ensures efficient patient flow, staff training, and adherence to regulatory standards in a dynamic healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in business, healthcare, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in Physician and/or Hospital front-office setting, including 3rd party payers, customer service, quality assurance, collections, registration and/or admitting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Experience with software applications as they apply to the computerized patient record.

Responsibilities

• Oversees Patient Access and Admitting operations on-site and off-site for clinics and hospitals.
• Responsible for orientation and ongoing training of Patient Access Specialists and clinical Access team members.
• Manages all registration and scheduling functions to maintain high efficiency and customer service standards.
• Collaborates with managers, nursing supervisors, and physician leaders to ensure policy consistency across locations.
• Escalates or resolves customer service issues promptly and professionally.
• Ensures appropriate staffing ratios to handle patient and service demands.
• Leads teamwork to support the organization’s mission and handle crises effectively.
• Oversees interviewing, selection, performance evaluation, and coaching of staff.
• Supervises daily activities, provides coaching and discipline as needed.
• Tracks workflow, staffing, productivity, and quality; implements improvements as needed.
• Ensures compliance with state, federal, and Joint Commission regulations; site readiness.
• Manages timecards, adjusts staffing, and communicates discrepancies.
• Maintains schedules and templates for physicians and services to ensure accuracy.
• Monitors bed census and liaises with bed management and charge nurses.
• Coordinates interpretive services scheduling for patients and families.
• Monitors call lines to ensure timely responses and accurate information.
