Job summary

The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia seeks a Patient Access Specialist in Charlottesville to manage registration, insurance verification, and patient access across outpatient areas. You will be the first point of contact, delivering accurate information with care and empathy.

This full-time role offers extensive Epic training, a structured onboarding, and opportunities to grow into leadership positions within UVA Health.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Customer service experience preferred.
Licensure not required.

Responsibilities

Welcomes patients and completes registration and check-in.
Verifies demographics, insurance coverage, and required documents.
Collects signatures and ensures records are complete and accurate.
Assists patients with financial resources and application processes.
Supports appointments, walk-ins, labs, imaging, EKGs, and other outpatient services.
Communicates with departments and updates workflows as needed.
Collaborates with team and departments to move patients efficiently through care.
