Job summary

University Hospitals is seeking a Patient Access Representative to serve as the first point of contact for patients and families. You will verify demographics, insurance data, collect payments, and guide patients through scheduling and MyChart usage, while maintaining exceptional service.

The role provides critical support to the care team, influences revenue cycle, and helps ensure appointments run smoothly. Strong communication and confidentiality are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ years of customer service experience.
• Healthcare customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Checking patients in and out for medical visits.
• Answering the phone to address patient inquiries and scheduling appointments.
• Assist patients with enrolling and utilizing MyChart.
• Entering, updating and validating patient demographic, insurance & financial information.
• Communicating information to other medical care team members.
• May contact insurance companies regarding coverage, preapprovals, billing and issues.
• Collects and processes patient payments for visit copays, coinsurance, deductibles and prior balances.
• Assist with completion of various forms and paperwork.
• Work EPIC workqueues, worklists and inbasket messages.
• Schedules referrals and follow-up visits.
• Accurate and timely scanning of documents into EPIC.
