Job summary

The role requires strong communication, ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting, and proficiency with EHR systems (Epic, Cerner). Experience in healthcare or customer service is preferred, with remote work possible per practice needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or healthcare certification preferred.
• 1+ year in healthcare or customer service setting.
• 4-5 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance plans, and EHR systems (Epic, Cerner) is a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.
• Work is performed in an office environment or remotely depending on what is required by the practice.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls and route inquiries or route calls appropriately, interacts with patients in a courteous and professional manner.
• Register patients accurately, including demographic, insurance, and contact information.
• Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments using the clinic’s electronic health record (EHR) system.
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain necessary authorizations or referrals.
• Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure smooth patient flow.
• Assist with administrative tasks such as scanning, filing, and data entry.
• Handle patient complaints or concerns with empathy and escalate when necessary.
• Maintains patient confidentiality.
• Maintains safe work practices.
• Other duties as assigned.
