Job summary

Kettering Health Network is seeking a Patient Access professional in Troy to support patient care and front-desk operations. You will accurately register patients, verify insurance, collect necessary information, and guide patients through the registration and billing processes.

The role requires strong customer service, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining confidentiality and HIPAA compliance. Prior healthcare experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare administrative or customer service role.
• Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately collect and enter patient demographic, insurance, and contact information into the EHR system.
• Verify patient identity and insurance eligibility, ensuring data integrity and preventing duplicates.
• Obtain and document consents, authorizations, and signatures for treatment and billing.
• Explain financial responsibilities, co-pays, deductibles, and payment options; collect payments as applicable.
• Greet patients and visitors, answer questions, and provide directions or assistance within the facility.
• Schedule, reschedule, or cancel patient appointments in alignment with provider availability.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, OSHA, and organizational policies.
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to support efficient patient flow and resolve issues.
• Monitor incomplete/incorrect registrations and follow up with patients or payers as needed.
• Participate in required training to stay current with healthcare regulations and technology updates.
