Job summary

Qualifications

• 1 year of customer service experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Able to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
• Fluent in Spanish strongly preferred.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Able to accurately enter and interpret data.
• Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Ability to follow complex written or verbal instructions.
• Able to interact professionally with internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and families in person or on the telephone in a respectful and empathetic manner.
• Interviews patients to obtain demographic, payer, financial/medical info and ID to schedule or pre-register/register.
• Collects payments and provides receipts; verifies payer information.
• Obtains necessary authorizations for hospital services and follows up.
• Documents activities in the hospital system and QA notes.
• Directs families to locations and notifies security/risk as needed.
• Scans documents to appropriate folders and schedules services.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA/ EMTALA.
